Institute of Technology and Life Sciences National Research Institute conducts scientific and development research in following areas:

- protection, use, and shaping of the environment and nature, water resources, permanent grasslands, landscape and infrastructure of rural areas;

- innovative, comprehensive technologies in plant and animal production, agri-food processing, rural technical infrastructure, and renewable energy production;

- safety of the technologies used and the operation of machinery and equipment.

The Institute has 14 research teams located at its headquarters in Falenty and in its branches in Warsaw, Kłudzienko, Poznań, Wrocław, Bydgoszcz, Kraków, Szczecin.
The Institute is entitled to award doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in agricultural and engineer-technical sciences. The Institute performs standardization, approval, control and verification, certification, and homologation tasks, along with maintaining accredited laboratories, the certification and notified bodies.
