The Institute of Natural Fibres and Medicinal Plants – National Research Institute (INFRMP-NRI) is an interdisciplinary research institution of international significance, conducting comprehensive studies on the sourcing and processing of natural fibrous and medicinal raw materials.

It serves the needs of various sectors, including agriculture, environmental protection, construction, and the food and pharmaceutical industries.

The Institute engages in scientific research and implementation activities in areas such as:
- development of new varieties of fibrous and medicinal plants,
- second-generation biofuels derived from hemp biomass,
- reclamation and remediation of degraded and contaminated land through industrial hemp cultivation,
- biocomposites and functional textiles,
- utilization of herbal extracts for the development of new health, medicinal, and cosmetic products.

The Institute runs a Special Hemp Program and a Herbal Program, aimed at the production and sale of high-quality seed and propagation material from its proprietary plant varieties, both in Poland and abroad.
