The Institute’s mission includes:
- establishing a scientific foundation for biological progress in crop breeding and seed production
- implementing biotechnology, production, and storage technologies
- conducting research and diagnostic services
- maintaining crop biodiversity
- providing education and disseminating research results
The Plant Breeding an Acclimatization Institute was established in 1951 and has held the status of National Research Institute since 2010. The Institute conducts its scientific, implementation, and commercial activities through six scientific divisions, six experimental stations, and five IHAR Group companies located throughout the country.
